Three Indian PVC producers namely, Chemplast Cuddalore Vinyls Limited (CCVL), DCM Shriram Limited and DCW Limited have reportedly submitted a petition to the Department of Commerce seeking the imposition of anti-dumping duty on the import of suspension PVC from China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the USA.

The Indian Department of Commerce has notified related authorities from the above-mentioned countries. However, the official notification did not mention the exact timeline, in which the Indian government intended to initiate the anti-dumping investigation to determine the injury to the local industry.

India is the world’s largest PVC importer, and the country abolished its previously imposed anti-dumping duties nearly a year ago, in February 2022, allowing manufacturers to access more competitive sources of raw materials. In May 2022, the government also lowered import duty on PVC from 10% to 7.5%.
