According to market sources, Hainan Shihua Jiasheng Chemical Co Ltd has shut its styrene monomer (SM) plant unexpectedly on 25 January 2016 due to the closures of Chinese ports result of falling temperature in winter that caused insufficient ethylene feedstock supply.

Located in Hainan, China, the unit is having a capacity of 80,000 ton/year of SM, and it is expected to remain off-line for 12 days.
