At least three major ports in China have announced increases in container handling fees starting 1 January 2022, which could add more pressure on importers amid the relentless rising shipping costs.
Ningbo Port would lift the handling fees for 20-feet ordinary foreign trade heavy box from the CNY490 to CNY539, and 20-feet empty box from CNY429 to CNY472.
Shanghai Port Group announced lifting the handling fees for domestic trade transit 20-feet heavy box from CNY160 to CNY240.
Meanwhile, Guangzhou Port in Southern China decided to implement larger increases than others. The handling fees for 20-feet of foreign trade standard heavy box will be lifted from the current CNY490 to CNY540 for trailer collection dredging mode, and to CNY583 for water transfer mode. Foreign trade empty box will hike to CNY357 from the current CNY300.
