Market players reported that a major Taiwanese PVC maker reportedly sold out Feb shipment allocation this week after agreed to small discount. It is estimated that the producer sold 12,000 tons to China, 11,000 tons to India and another 15,000 tons to Southeast Asia and other destinations.
Source close to the producer commented, “The sales quantity has actually dropped compared to previous month due to weaker demand. We expect to see stable trend in the coming month in the absence of sales pressure. There are some technical issues at the VCM line which forced our supplier to seek external supply recently, hence allocation for PVC might reduce in the near term.”
The producer unexpectedly increased their offer by $10/t to Asian buyers last week amid falling ethylene costs to reach $770/t for India and $730/t for China and Southeast Asia, CIF, LC at sight term.
