China’s factory activities fell for the second straight month in April as the COVID-19 outbreak halted industrial production and disrupt the supply chain, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
The official Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 47.4 in April from 49.5 in March – the lowest level since February 2020.
The NBS added, "Some companies face difficulties in key raw material and component supplies, finished products sales and rising inventories.” The situation might improve in May with supporting policies in place.
