The Chinese authorities have put the Beilun district in Ningbo – house to several large container terminals under a week lockdown starting 14 October following a clutter of COVID-19 outbreak detected at the port.
Beilun district is China’s 2nd largest containers port handled about 136 million tons of cargo last year.
At the time of this report, Oriental Energy (or Ningbo Fortune II) is among the first to report being affected by the lockdown. The PP producer (400,000 tons/year) has informed overseas customers about the situation, which will likely result in delays in delivery obligations.
According to media reports, at least 36 cities in China, which make up 13.9% of China’s population were implementing various levels of lockdown or restriction to tame the new wave of the outbreak following the Golden Week holiday.
