EIA: US crude stocks fell again last week; gasoline and distillate registered large gains

The commercial crude inventories in the US registered another week of decline last week as refineries in the countries ramped up operating rates further to the highest levels since 2019.

Data from the Energy Information Administration showed a build up of 5.2 million barrels in the week to 2 December, to 413.9 million barrels.

Refinery utilization rates rose 0.3% from the previous week to 95.5% during the week.

Meanwhile, gasoline stocks built up for the fourth week in a row, adding another 5.3 million barrels. Distillate stockpiles, which consist of diesel and heating oil added 6.2 million barrels despite the winter season.
