International benchmarks for crude oil settled higher on the first trading day of the week, 19 December 2022 on the renewed optimism around China relaxing COVID-19 controls. However, the gains were capped by the lingering fear of a global financial recession.
Brent added 76 cents to close at $79.80/barrel.
WTI rose 90 cents to close at $75.19/barrel.
