Over the weekend, a major Indonesian producer announced fresh weekly offers with sharp increases on all homo-PP grades, following the latest hikes observed in the regional market. The same confidence level is not reflected in the PE sector, where the maker maintains a cautious stance in adjusting the prices given the comfortable availability.
The producer’s latest price list and changes compared to last week are shown in the following table:

The torrid surge in spot homo-PP offers stunned the market. Many manufacturers attempted to adjust finished goods prices accordingly, but immediately suffered a blow of PO cancellations.
“We are unable to transfer the higher raw material costs to the end-products. The new hikes are ridiculous because there is no support from the demand side,” a woven bag maker complained vociferously.
Still, suppliers are counting on the tightening supply outlook amid heavy shutdown schedules among Asian plants. The bullish expectations are so strong, sellers have totally disregarded the emergence of active export/re-export activities from Chinese sellers.
