For the second week in a row, a key domestic producer in Indonesia maintain a firm stance on spot PP and PE cargoes despite the weakening purchasing activities as this market starts to embrace the Eid Fitr holiday.

The firmer offers, particularly on HDPE cargoes are attributed to the reduced sales pressure even though the Rupiah continues to strengthen against the US dollar, which usually drags commodity prices lower.
“We do not expect strong trading activities this week because many companies have already taken off for the holiday. The increases might only be for the purpose of illustration,” said, a market source.
Late last week, a couple of Vietnamese suppliers softened their stance on import homo-PP offers to Indonesia due to the persistently subdue demand condition. Players are monitoring further movement in the import market this week to gauge the appropriate price levels on the domestic ground.
