Market sources reported that Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is planning to start its new paraxylene (PX) unit by October 2016.

Based in Jamnagar, India, the PX unit has a producton capacity of 2.2 million ton/year. RIL has been purchasing PX cargoes for both of its new PTA plants at Dahej which started up in 2015, with a combined capacity of 2.24 million ton/year. Upon the startup of its new PX plant, RIL expected to become an exporter instead, with estimated export volume of 1 million ton/year.
