Couple of Southeast Asian PE makers have started to open new offers with increases after the long Chinese New Year holidays. A major Thailand producer announced new prices at $1115/t for HDPE film and $1125/t for LDPE film, CIF Vietnam, LC AS term, some $5/t higher than the latest offers given before the holidays. A buyer receive the new offer said, “Buyers are still waiting for new development from China market before making decision. We think that some small hike is possible, but larger increases will face resistance from the market.”

Meanwhile, another major maker in the region has also expressed their sell idea for March shipment with $10/t higher for HDPE film and $30/t firmer for LDPE film to reach $1120/t and $1150/t CIF SEA, respectively. Source from the producer informed, “We might announce mass offer as soon as today and we plan to be firm on our LDPE film cargoes due to an unexpected shutdown right before the Chinese New Year holidays. Supply for HDPE film is regular, however we are a bit concern about the state of demand. We will monitor the market’s response first before making any adjustment.”
