International benchmarks for oil prices continued gaining on Friday (30 September) as market optimism about OPEC’s deals to cur output outcast doubts about the achievability of the agreement. Many analysts are saying that entering the deal is a self-defeated strategy for OPEC members, as higher crude oil prices might allow US shale producers to swoop in to capture the higher margins.
WTI closed at $48.24/barrel (+$0.41) for November delivery
Brent closed at $49.06/barrel (+$0.18) for November delivery
