Shandong Yulong’s latest auction for PP and PE registered stronger participation than in the previous round, with LLDPE emerging as the relative bright spot.
Traders noted that improved buying interest was driven largely by discounted offers, as auction prices fell by CNY20-60/ton compared with the last session. The lower levels encouraged some need-based replenishment, though sentiment remained uneven across grades.
PP transactions continued to lag amid ample domestic supply and subdued export sales, a combination that has kept near-term outlook under pressure. In contrast, LLDPE film drew firmer demand, supported by seasonal requirements from the agricultural film sector and tighter import arrivals, particularly from the US, where cargoes have been redirected to alternative destinations.
Even so, traders noted that firmer price levels are not widely accepted and buying tends to materialise only when discounts are offered. The high deal closure for LLDPE film at sizable volumes may signal a gradual pickup in seasonal demand heading into winter, though the broader market remains wary.
