Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co., China’s largest coal-based petrochemical producer, concluded its auction 09 September 2025, with the results for prime grades as follows:

Auction and Deal volumes are in tonnage All USD equivalent prices only exclude the 13% value-added tax (VAT). They have not taken into account other costs that might incur in the selling process, i.e. import duty, customs clearances.

The session saw improved uptake, with LLDPE film achieving near-total clearance and homo-PP yarn attracting solid bids. The momentum was partly supported by a CNY30/ton reduction in LLDPE starting offers, while PP and LLDPE futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange traded in a steady, narrow band during the morning.

Market sources stressed, however, that transactions remained firmly need-based rather than pointing to a broader rebound. “The price adjustment effectively boosted the platform’s competitiveness versus the domestic spot market, which facilitated trades,” a local trader observed.

Overall, the session reflected modest support from price adjustments and steadier futures, though demand remains largely need-driven. With downstream appetite still constrained, sentiment is expected to stay cautious until clearer signals emerge from September supply dynamics and futures performance.
