Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co., China’s largest coal-based petrochemical producer, concluded its auction on 22 October 2025 with firmer sell-through rates for PPH yarn and LLDPE film, while PPBC injection recorded no deals.

Shenhua’s latest auction saw stronger participation compared with the previous session, led by near-full clearance in LLDPE film and improved PPH yarn transactions. Stable auction prices combined with firmer sentiment helped sustain buying interest, even as PPBC injection failed to attract bids.

The rebound in PP and LLDPE futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange, together with recovering crude oil benchmarks, underpinned today’s performance and lent some confidence to the market. However, most traders continued to exercise caution, noting that the recovery was likely technical rather than fundamental.

A market participant remarked, “The rebound spurred some short-term replenishment, but most buyers remain hesitant to commit beyond immediate requirements.”

While the improved results signalled tentative stabilisation, sentiment across China’s polyolefin sector remains fragile. Market attention has shifted to the sustainability of crude-driven gains and end-month demand trends to determine whether current support can hold.
