Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co., China’s largest coal-based petrochemical producer, concluded its auction on 29 December 2025 with no recorded transactions. The session reflected a market in transition, as the producer shifted toward offline negotiations to clear the final remnants of its 2025 allocations.

The auction session was characterized by a significant contraction in supply, with only 57.02 tons of PPBC injection offered. The presence of this limited volume indicates that while 2025 sales quotas are almost depleted, the producer is still flushing out the final remaining parcels before the financial year-end.
Despite a modest morning rebound in PP and LLDPE futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE), the auction failed to secure any bids. Market participants indicate that Shenhua is increasingly engaging in offline negotiations to move remaining parcels, prioritizing bilateral deals to finalize year-end destocking.
While the futures market maintained a range-bound firmness, buying interest remained dormant on the auction floor. With essential year-end requirements already fulfilled, buyers showed no urgency to commit to the minimal auction lots available, choosing instead to preserve cash and monitor the pricing trajectory for January 2026.
