Analysts noted that limited auction volumes may understate broader market sentiment, with actual buying activity concentrated among price-sensitive players.

Shandong Yulong’s latest PP auction lifted prices by 100–200 CNY/ton, yet market uptake remained selective, highlighting demand constrained to immediate needs. Homo-PP yarn cleared most aggressively, with 84.8% of offered volumes sold, while PP thinwall and PPBC saw weaker traction at 40% and 20.4%, respectively.

Analysts noted that limited auction volumes may understate broader market sentiment, with actual buying activity concentrated among price-sensitive players.

Market participants signalled a cautious stance, with many buyers opting to source from local traders offering more flexible terms rather than committing to larger volumes. Geopolitical uncertainty, particularly US–Middle East tensions, continues to reinforce measured purchasing, keeping restocking subdued.

Meanwhile, Shandong Yulong’s PE cargoes are moving through off-auction channels, giving the producer room to adjust pricing in line with market appetite. Buying interest in PE remains pragmatic, focused on immediate requirements rather than forward coverage, reflecting a market navigating constrained supply visibility and ongoing geopolitical risk.
