Market sources reported that Reliance Industries has been granted the certification of environmental clearance (EC) this week for the expansion and debottlenecking of its petrochemical complex.
Based in Nagothane, India, the expansion project will boost the plant’s capacities as following:
Ethylene (expand 180,000 tons/year to 580,000 tons/year)
Propylene (expand 40,000 tons/year to 130,000 tons/year)
Ethylene glycol (expand 70,000 tons/year to 200,000 tons/year)
Ethylene oxide (expand 60,000 tons/year to 70,000 tons/year)
LLDPE/HDPE (expand 50,000 tons/year to 350,000 tons/year)
A source closed to the company informed that the plant will be commissioned in stages starting within a year after the granted of EC, and it is expected to cost around INR23.38 billion ($346 million).
