Japan's Maruzen and Keiyo cuts crackers' operating rate on technical issues

It is reported that two major olefins producers in Japan - Keiyo Ethylene and Maruzen Petrochemical have reduced operating rates at their naphtha crackers this week to about 70 per cent due to mechanical issues.

Both crackers are based in Chiba; with Keiyo Ethylene produces 768,000 tons/year of ethylene and 400,000 tons/year of propylene while Maruzen Petrochemical has an annual capacity of 525,000 tons/year of ethylene and 230,000 tons/year of propylene.

Both of the crackers might maintain this operating rate in the next two to three months before the mentioned issued could be resolved, sources said.
