Market players reported that a Thailand maker has resumed spot offers for their PE cargoes to China this week after a major maintenance shutdown at their plant since February 2016. This is earlier than expected since the producer initially informed buyers that they are now running metallocene grade and would only be able to supply spot cargoes by end of the month.
Latest price list from the maker stands at $1230/t for HDPE film, $1240/t for HDPE yarn, $1280/t for LLDPE C4 film, $1240/t for LDPE film and $1260/t for LDPE heavy duty, all on CFR China, LC A/S basis, mid of May shipment.
A buyer commented, “Our principal starts offering spot cargoes earlier than expected yet cargoes only arrive in June. These prices are a little above the current market level and we are in mid of negotiation now. Demand in China is rather sluggish this week, hence we are not confident in purchasing at such high costs.”
