According to market sources, Pengerang Refining And Petrochemical (PRefChem) has successfully started up its 3 million tons/year naphtha cracker in Southern Malaysia and currently attempting to stabilize the operation.
The trial run at the downstream PP units has been postponed to mid of March 2019, sources added. The plants would produce three main grades including homo-PP, BOPP and PP block copolymers. An by end of March, the LLDPE units would come online, producing C6 film at the first stage before moving to metallocene PE and C4 film.
Players are expecting these cargoes to arrive the market in April and there might be some pre-marketing quantity available in late March.
