President Donald Trump on 20 March 2019 said that USA expected to keep tariffs on Chinese goods in place for a substantial period of time, even after a deal, according to the Wall Street Journal.
It is reported that the US government has talked about rolling back the tariffs in stages to make sure the compliance at China side. It seems USA is more willing to roll back at least some of the 10% tariffs on $200 billion Chinese goods that took effect in September while resisting to remove the 25% on the $50 billion of Chinese goods.
USA and Chinese officials are meeting in Beijing late of next week for a fresh round of negotiation.
