Market sources reported that ExxonMobil was forced to take its metallocene PE units off-stream since late March 2019 due to unspecified technical issues. The plant is expected to remain shut for about six weeks, sources added.

The unit has an annual capacity of 600,000 tons, located in Jurong Island of Singapore.

There has been information circulating in China market that the producer is offering spot ethylene cargoes at the moment as a result of excess supply from the troubled PE unit.
