UPDATE: USA is losing patience in trade talks with China

Following the extension of the supposed trade talks deadline 1 March 2019 between China and the USA, there have been many positive headlines on the progress of the agreement. However, it appears that the USA is losing patience in the discussion, from which President Trump on 5 May 2019 announced that the country planned to raise tariffs on USD 200 billion worth of Chinese goods to 25% from the current 10% starting 10 May 2019. This would affect 5,745 products imported from China, including 55 plastics end products under the HS code heading of 39.

In addition, the USA is also planning to impose 25% tariffs on the USD 325 billion worth of Chinese goods that have not been taxed yet.

In respond, Chinese officials cancelled the meeting with the USA that was initially scheduled to take place this week.
