Liaoyang Petrochemical Company (LYPC) was forced to undertake emergency shutdown at its R156 polyolefins unit on 21 May 2016 after a leak at the oil-water separation tank caused flare.
Based in Liaoyang, China, the company has 50,000 ton/year of PP and 70,000 ton/year of HDPE unit. Market is expecting minimal impact on the prices since the company kept its PP unit off-line since Oct 2011, till this moment; there is no clear schedule on the restart date. Meanwhile, the HDPE plant is expected to remain shut for at least 2 weeks.
