The Indian government has announced the extension of the nationwide lockdown for another three weeks, to 3 May 2020 as the country escalates effort to contain the outbreak that reportedly infected more than 10,000 people here.
All non-essential travels and business establishments are to close until 20 April as the government assesses the outbreak situation before allowing businesses in the areas that less likely to become a hot spot to resume operations.
The country has also announced a fiscal stimulus package of USD 22.5 billion to help poor households, who have been affected the most by the lockdown.
