It is reported that Map Ta Phut Olefins Co Ltd – a subsidiary of Thailand’s SCG Chemical is planning an overhaul at the naphtha cracker that also affects the operation at the downstream PP unit.
The naphtha cracker has an annual capacity of 900,000 tons/year of ethylene and 500,000 tons/year of propylene and would remain shut for 45 days from November to December 2020.
The company is also planning to take the downstream PP unit offline during the maintenance at the cracker. SCG owns three PP lines with a combined capacity of 720,000 tons/year. It is unclear at the moment which of the three lines would be shut.
