According to market sources, ExxonMobil has taken its No. 2 cracker in Jurong Island, Singapore off-stream since mid-September 2020 for routine maintenance work. The shutdown was initially scheduled for April-May 2020, however, got repeatedly postponed due to the lack of manpower during the pandemic related lockdown.
The No. 2 cracker has an annual capacity of 1 million tons/year of ethylene and 500,000 tons/year of propylene and would remain off-line until the end of October 2020.
Market players added that ExxonMobil is likely to shut the downstream 650,000 tons/year LLDPE unit and the 500,000 tons/year PP unit, which depends on the No. 2 cracker for feeds. There are no confirmations from the producer.
