South Korea’s Lotte postpones start-up at Deasan cracker

According to market sources, Lotte Chemical might restart the cracker in Deasan by end of November 2020, delayed from the initial plan of the beginning of November after the unit was taken off-stream in March after an explosion that injured at least 56 people.

Lotte Chemical is not available to confirm the information.

The cracker has an annual capacity of 1.1 million tons/year of ethylene, 550,000 tons/year of propylene, and 150,000 tons of butadiene.

There have been reports that the producer has issued a buy tender for 9,000 tons of propylene for November delivery, supporting the propylene market to firm up further.
