The Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry has completed the preliminary anti-dumping investigation on the import of PET from six countries, namely, the People's Republic of China (PRC), Republic of Indonesia (Indonesia), Japan, Republic of Korea (ROK), United States of America (USA) and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Ministry found sufficient evidence to continue the investigation on the importation of PET from China, Indonesia, South Korea, and Vietnam while terminating the investigation on the import of PET from Japan and the USA due to the negligible quantity.
While waiting for the final decision, which will be made no later than 23 April 2021, the ministry decided to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on the PET imported from the aforementioned four countries. Suppliers for these origins would have to pay a bank guarantee equivalent to the amount of the dumping margin determined in the preliminary determination.
