Malaysian buyers are puzzled by the increases and become very reluctant to accept the new offers. “We received a number of complaints from regular customers, who are struggling to abruptly increase end-product prices. Many are now entering negotiations with end product buyers before making new purchases to avoid risks,” a distributor added.

Such movement is observed across the Southeast Asia region as manufacturers prefer to secure new PO for end-product before proceeding with new replenishment, causing a generally sluggish trading sentiment in spite of a clearly firming outlook.
