EIA: US crude stockpile surged in the post winter storm period



The Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Wednesday, 9 March 2021 reported 13.8 million barrels increased in US crude inventory by the week ending 5 March 2021 as a result of refinery disruption due to the winter storm. 

Crude stocks surged to 498.4 barrels, but refined products including gasoline and diesel stockpile fell drastically. 

Refinery utilization rates have recovered by another 13% compared to the previous week, to 69%, which is still low at the time of the year. 

Net US crude import fell 919,000 barrels last week.
