China’s manufacturing activities expanded strongly in March 2021

Official data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed that manufacturing activities in China expanded in the strongest rate in March since the beginning of 2021 on improving global demand, which supports a solid economic recovery.

Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) rose to 51.9 from 50.6 in February, marking the thirteenth straight month of expansion.

The service sector also registered a strong growth of 56.3 points in March compared to 51.4 in February.

Activities in the construction sector stood at 62.3 points on the back of warmer weather, up from 54.7 in the previous month.

The global shortage of semiconductor chips is threatening the continued expansion in the coming month as car and electronic devices sectors, including TV, smartphone, and computers might have to slow down production.
