The latest data from the Energy Information Agency (EIA) showed that crude inventories in the US fell 4.1 million barrels in the week to 23 July 2021, to 435.6 million barrels – the lowest since January 2020.
The reduction was attributed to the fall of 616,000 barrels/day in new crude imports and 200,000 barrels/day in field production.
The refinery utilization rate dropped 0.3 percentage points.
Gasoline stocks – an indicator of the demand, fell 2.3 million barrels as the country gradually reopen from COVID-19 restrictions.
