According to market sources, Reliance Industries is planning to take one of its PP plants in Jamnagar, India offline on 5 August 2021 for routine maintenance work.
The unit has an annual output of 400,000 tons/year and would remain shut for approximately a month.
The local supply is expected to take a hit from the shutdown, especially when the demand is recovering from the COVID-19 outbreak. This week, the producer has lifted spot PP prices by INR2,000/ton ($27/ton) while restraining from allocating additional quantity to MOU customers.
