Lee Soon Seng Plastic Industries Sdn Bhd, one of the largest thermo vacuum form plastic packaging manufacturer in Malaysia is transforming its production processes by implementing more of the Industry 4.0 elements.
“Challenges are inevitable, and Industry 4.0 is not something that can happen over-night,” Dato Sri Lee Hock Seng, Executive Chairman of Lee Soon Seng Plastics, said, on the side of the In.Tech Conference here in Kuala Lumpur.
Lee Soon Seng produces more than 1000 products, ranging from food tray, lunch box, and PP cups to medical trays. Started up in 1984, Lee Soon Seng has now owned approximate 100 machines and employs more than 500 employees
Dato Sri Lee Hock Seng stresses that knowledge is the most critical factor on the path to Industry 4.0 and that the labor market needs a major upgrade for a quicker and smoother transition from traditional to a more advanced manufacturing.
“Despite all the challenges, we must move toward this direction [Industry 4.0 direction]. Overseas customers are having higher requirement for end products and investing in higher tech factory is for the longer term benefit,” Dato Sri Lee Hock Seng.
