Saudi LLDPE Film Dips Below $900/ton in Vietnam as Pressure Mounts
After weeks of resistance, a leading Saudi Arabian supplier has conceded to sell LLDPE film cargoes in Vietnam below the $900/ton threshold for October loading, highlighting the mounting bearish sentiment across the market.
Despite the price breakthrough, demand uptake has been lackluster, with buyers remaining cautious amid mounting concerns that competitively priced US-origin cargoes will continue flooding the region, adding further downside pressure.
“The transactions effectively discouraged buyers from considering cargoes priced above the $900/ton threshold. In the coming days, we expect other Middle Eastern suppliers to adjust their offers lower,” a Vietnamese buyer remarked.

Chinese PET bottle Rebounded Mid-Week as Typhoon Disrupted Productions
Chinese PET bottle suppliers reversed course mid-week, raising export offers by $5–10/ton after news of emergency shutdowns at key PET and PTA plants in Southern China due to Typhoon Ragasa.
Although the facilities themselves escaped direct damage, severe flooding hit surrounding roads, warehouses, and industrial zones, likely delaying the resumption of normal operations. Meanwhile, sharp gains in PX and PTA futures further bolstered PET market sentiment.
Buyer response, however, has been muted. With demand seasonally soft, many market participants opted to remain on the sidelines, viewing the latest hikes as potentially short-lived.
