TODAY’S DEVELOPMENTS

Middle Eastern PE producer cuts offers again as Vietnam buyers hold back

The producer has lowered its offers for a third consecutive week in Vietnam, with LDPE film bearing the steepest correction as the supplier struggles to clear cargo allocations. Despite the concessions, buyer interest has stayed thin, with a persistent premium over a co-complex peer's recent deals proving hard for local procurement to justify. Fresh regional and import alternatives are adding to the downward pull, while a gradual return of Middle Eastern volumes is easing supply tightness across Southeast Asia. Vietnamese buyers have largely shifted to the sidelines, betting on further softening before committing to forward cover. With demand cues from China now the key swing factor, near-term sentiment points toward continued price discovery to the downside.

China PET bottle export offers edge higher as nine-week slide breaks

China's PET bottle export market showed early signs of stabilising this week, with offers ticking up $5/ton in FOB terms as strength across the upstream energy and polyester futures complex broke a prolonged bearish run. The recovery has been driven largely by paper market gains rather than physical demand, leaving buyers cautious and forward bookings thin. Whether this firming holds will depend heavily on crude's ability to sustain its upward momentum in the sessions ahead.
