China PVC rally hits a wall as weakness spreads across spot and futures

China's PVC market snapped its rally as energy complex softness and fading futures sentiment pulled spot prices lower. The pullback was enough to lure buyers back for selective restocking, and warehouse stocks extended consecutive weeks of declines that increasingly reflect real consumption rather than supply curtailments alone. Export offers told a split story, with some cargoes holding firmer even as overseas enquiries stayed largely dormant.

China inventories surge as August buyers retreat to the sidelines

China's market saw its steepest inventory build since the Chinese New Year holiday, as sluggish first-of-August trading session collided with typical month-end caution. Buyers largely stepped back after a brief pickup in interest late last week, shifting into a wait-and-see stance by the week’s end. A weekend thaw in US-Iran tensions added further pressure, pulling crude lower and dampening buying appetite into the new session.
