The US crude inventories fell another 3.5 million barrels in the week ending 17 September 2021, according to the latest report from the Energy Information Agency (EIA). At 414 million barrels, the inventories are at the lowest levels since October 2018.

The sharp draw in the crude stocks was a result of higher operating rates among refineries. Data suggested a 5.4% hike in refining activities from the previous week to 87.5%.

Total gasoline inventories piled up 3.5 million barrels.

Net US crude import increased 700,000 barrels per day.
