EIA: US crude inventories built up for the second straight week
The Energy Information Agency released the latest data on US crude inventories for the week ending 1 October 2021, which showed 2.3 million barrels increased from the previous week to 420.9 million barrels, as offshore production resumed operations from the hurricanes.
This is the second week in a row US crude stocks increased.
Refinery utilization rates rose 1.5 percentage points to 89.6%.
Gasoline inventories built up 3.3 million barrels during the week to 225.1 million barrels.
Net US crude imports rose 1.4 million barrels per day to 4.9 million barrels per day.
