According to market sources, several shipping companies have sent official notices to their customers informing about the suspension of the feeder services between Hong Kong and the South China region ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Ocean Network Express (ONE) said that it must stop accepting cargoes bound for certain ports in Southern China as early as 20 November 2021 to allow onboard feeder crews to comply with quarantine requirements before leaving for the holiday.

Customers with shipments transit in Hong Kong would have to find other means of transportations to move the parcels, while cargoes going to South China that can be serviced by ocean vessels are not affected.

Last year, a similar situation took place, forcing Chinese customers to scramble to look for alternative modes of transportations. Many traders decided to re-direct the cargoes to other markets because there were limited economical solutions to bring the shipment to Southern China.
