According to market sources, a major Southeast Asian producer has announced fresh offers for PP and LDPE with an average price increment of $30/ton for all PP grades and $10-20/ton increased on LDPE grades from last month, all based on CIF Southeast Asia, LC AS term.

An international distributor offered on behalf of the producer informed, “The range of price hike is rather mediocre and we believed that we can conclude deals with regular customers. This month, our principal is able to supply 40% more of regular allocation for PP despite the current plant shutdown; hence we think the tightness PP market suffered previously is now easing gradually.”

Another Malaysian distributor added, “Malaysia market is rather stagnant amid weakening local currency. Converters are not seeing any improvement in their end product demand, from which we are a little concern over the near term market prospect.”
