The commercial crude inventories in the US piled up just 692,000 barrels in the week ending 22 April 2022 to 414.4 million barrels, according to the latest data from the Energy Information Agency (EIA).

Gasoline stocks fell 1.6 million barrels last week, which industry participants said is not a surprise because US refiners have been supplying to both South American and European customers recently.

On the other hand, refinery utilization rates dropped 0.7% to 90.3%.

US crude imports increased 98,000 barrels to 5.9 million barrels per day.
