Unexpected shutdown at PTT's HDPE unit

Market sources reported that PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) has unexpectedly shut its HDPE unit since last Thursday (28 July 2016) due to ethylene supply shortage issues.

Based in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, the HDPE unit has a production capacity of 250,000 ton/year. It is expected to remain off-stream for about 10 days. A source closed to the company informed that they are planning to bring the unit on-stream by this weekend.
