A major Indonesian producer has opened fresh PP and PE offers to domestic buyers at unchanged levels compared to the previous price announcement. The price decision is deemed cautious as the maker prefers to wait for more movements in the coming days.

Indonesian buyers have been adopting a wait-and-see stance over the past several weeks, citing the inability to transfer the rising raw material costs to finished goods prices. Many converters in the woven bag and PE packaging sectors told CommoPlast earlier that the number of new PO they received for January 2023 is rather mediocre, further discouraging stock-building activities.

“But the producer might introduce some increases later on if trading activities in other markets pick up. We are not in a rush to procure additional cargoes. Besides, offers in the distribution market are still way more competitive,” added, a buyer.
