A key domestic producer in Malaysia lifted February PP and PE offers, marking the second straight month of firming up on the back of tighter availability and bullish expectations surrounding the China reopening.

Surprisingly, PP offers registered much stronger gains compared to PE even though the start-up at PrefChem’s PP units is expected to boost domestic supply. This is also a development observed across the Southeast Asia region.

“Customers are a bit reluctant, but we expect an uptick in replenishment activities since the preparation for the Ramadan season is about to start,” a trader added.
