According to an official statement released on Shell’s official website on 17 August 2016, the force majeure declared on its naphtha cracker in Pulau Bukom during December 2015 has come to an end.

A representative from the company quoted saying, “We have informed our customers and suppliers about the end of the force majeure on our ability to supply a number of chemical products from Singapore, with effect from 17 August 2016.”

There have been market talks that the cracker is operating at near to full rate at the moment. The cracker is able to produce 1 million tons/year of ethylene, 550,000 tons/year of propylene, 155,000 ton/year of butadiene and 780,000 ton/year of MEG.
