Price adjustments from major Thailand maker for HDPE to China

Chinese market players reportedly receive price adjustments from major Thailand maker for HDPE with some buyers received a $10/ton decreased and some with $10-20/ton increased compared to initial offer by beginning of the week. The latest offer level for HDPE film and yarn are standing at the level of $1145-1175/ton and $1150-1180/ton respectively, both at a CFR China, LC at sight term.
“We have received a $10/ton reduction as our principal claimed that they face difficulties to sell these days due to subdued demand. Most of our customers are still on the wait and see stance but we believed that prices shall be on the stable to firm trend with the support from upstream and energy prices,” a trader said.
“We heard that the reduced offers were only available for selected customers. The offers that we received were at a $10-20/ton increased compared to beginning of the week. We believed that this could be due to firmer crude and monomers prices especially with a large hike of $50/ton for ethylene on CFR China basis. However, we are still not having confidence about the acceptance level from buyers side,” a trader commented.
